What Is It? How Does It Work?

The Plasma (PRP) Facial is a treatment that stimulates collagen production, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, adds volume, and minimizes scarring or stretch marks, by extracting and then re-delivering your own plasma to your face.The plasma is collected by taking a blood sample (about the same about that would be taken for a lab test) and spinning it in a centrifuge. The red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma, which now contains a higher concentration of platelets, which is why it is called platelet-rich plasma, or PRP. Containing 8 growth factors, platelets cells help tissue to heal and grow new cells. When platelet-rich plasma is injected into specific areas of the skin, it promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue, and naturally smooths and tightens the skin.

Process

Once the plasma is ready, a microneedling device is used to create tiny channels in the skin and deliver the plasma back to the deeper layers. At Lucy Peters Aesthetic Center, we use the Eclipse Micropen. A vampire facial works by drawing a small sample of blood from a patient’s vein, which can then be processed in a special machine that produces platelet rich plasma (PRP).The platelets found in the Plasma Facial release several proteins that increase collagen and connective tissue formation, leading to skin tightening and overall rejuvenation. The PRP facial requires little to no downtime, and the procedure itself is quick, just 15 minutes.

Recovery
