How does PRP hair loss treatment encourage hair growth?

Within your blood, specifically the PRP, there are special cells called platelets that cause growth of hair follicles by stimulating the stem cells in the Dermal Papilla as well as other structures of the hair follicle.

PRP hair restoration is ideal for men and women who are experiencing thinning hair (androgenetic alopecia) to stimulate inactive hair follicles (referred to as miniaturization) into an active (terminal) growth phase.

What is involved during a PRP therapy treatment?

When you arrive for treatment, we draw your blood, much like a routine visit to your physician. We collect only the amount needed for treatment and process it in a centrifuge to spin down and separate the cells. The effective, concentrated PRP that will be used for an effective treatment is then ready for use.

In preparation of your scalp, we may use a topical or local anesthetic for comfort, and proceed to stimulate the scalp with a microneedling process, creating tiny channels that will absorb the PRP deeper into the scalp during treatment. Your own plasma (PRP) will then be injected into your scalp and any remaining will be gently massaged into the surface to complete your treatment.

The entire process takes 45 minutes and you're able to return to your daily routine immediately following your hair restoration appointment at Lucy Peters Aesthetic Center.

When will I see results of the PRP treatment for thinning hair?

Noticeable results begin about 10-12 weeks following your appointment and continue to improve for the next 6 months after treatment. It is common for our clients with visible or noticeable thinning hair to schedule a second treatment 3-6 months following the first. Most people will desire a treatment at least once a year to maintain and continue stimulating healthy hair growth.

PRP specific cells that stimulate hair growth include:
